One special volunteer who has brought a lot of joy to LUCY this past year is Brooke Severe. Brooke just graduated from St. Joe’s University this May with a degree in History. She started coming to LUCY as her weekly service site at the beginning of her senior year, and quickly fell in love with it (and the youth fell in love with her!)
Brooke came to LUCY in the fall of 2013 eager to help and open to the new experience. She came every week with contagious enthusiasm, always encouraging the youth to be positive, curious, and excited for whatever the night offered. Whether it in was one-on-one tutoring, a small group discussion, or a 50-person icebreaker, Brooke was engaged and invested in the moment. Beyond her weekly service commitment, Brooke also helped chaperone trips and volunteered her time to help with our wreath fundraiser.
Brooke left a memorable mark on LUCY and we are forever grateful for her generosity! This August Brooke will be moving to Texas to serve in the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, and we wish her the best of luck!
We love you, Brooke! Thank you for everything!
