Cynthia is a rising junior at The University of Scranton. She is currently majoring in Health Administration with a minor in business and Spanish. Outside of school she enjoys volunteering and going on new, different adventures. Her connection through LUCY is being one of the youth in the program in past years. She is excited to work with us this summer and learn more about each one of us here.
Johnathan Cabrera was born and raised in Camden, NJ and has been a member of the LUCY family for about 4 years now. In the past he has been involved with LUCY’s summer leadership program, served as an LGBT leader, and has led retreats. He was also selected to attend our annual service trip to Chaparral, New Mexico in 2014.
Johnathan is currently entering his Junior year at Saint Peter’s University where he is pursuing a bachelors in Communications with a minor in Music.
In his own words, “I am thrilled to be working with the LUCY staff after receiving so much support from them throughout my life. At times where I felt like I had no one, LUCY’s doors were always open. Being a part of this summer staff means the world to me.”
Simone is a Junior Childhood Studies major at Rutgers University-Camden Campus. She is very involved on campus as she works for the Rutgers Camden housing office, treasure of the Black Student Union, and chapter president of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. on campus. Outside of school activities, she participates in numerous service activities and has worked with multiple youth programs. She is extremely excited to work with LUCY as she gains experience working with youth in preparation for her future career serving youth in different communities.
Jazmin is a senior health sciences major at Rutgers Camden. She has been involved in many service opportunities in and around the city of Camden for the last two years. Her youth and peers have always made Jazmin excited for service, especially at LUCY. She looks forward to her summer with LUCY and hopes to have many new experiences.
Lisa is a Sophomore at College of the Holy Cross. At the end of her Sophomore year, she will declare a Sociology Major, Computer Science Minor, and she is also in a Business Program at Holy Cross. She was granted a “Summer Work Study” from Holy Cross to work at any non-profit organization for the summer and she has chosen to come back home and work for LUCY. She is excited to work more with the staff and see first-hand of all the hard work that goes into planning the summer programs. She is very honored to be able to give back to the amazing program that have shown her great love and support.
Bridget is from West Chester, PA and is a rising senior at Saint Joseph’s University. She started volunteering at LUCY last spring through Saint Joe’s weekly service program, and has loved it ever since! As a history and secondary education major, she has worked at a summer camp and taught 7th and 8th graders Model UN in Philadelphia. Upon graduating next year, Bridget hopes to continue working with youth and nonprofits, and is grateful to gain such valuable experience this summer. This summer she hopes to build relationships with everyone at LUCY and help facilitate summer programming that is both beneficial and fun for LUCY youth!
