Join LUCY Outreach this summer as a paid intern supporting youth across Camden. Our Summer Interns lead engaging, culturally responsive programming for children and teens, build meaningful relationships, and help create safe, empowering spaces where young people can grow, learn, and thrive.
Whether you’re working with our LUCY Littles (ages 7–11) or Teen Summer Program (ages 10–19), you’ll gain hands-on experience in youth development, leadership, and community impact while making a real difference every day.

LUCY Littles Camp Intern (Ages 7–11)
$16–$22/hour
Full-Time | 40 hrs/week
May – September
Monday–Friday (9 AM – 5 PM)
On-site programming + weekly trips
About the Role
The LUCY Littles Camp Intern plays a key role in creating a safe, engaging, and structured summer experience for children ages 7–11. Interns design and lead daily programming that supports academic growth, social development, and emotional well-being.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll take ownership of programming, supervise youth, and help bring a full 7-week summer camp to life through creative, developmentally appropriate activities.
What You’ll Do
- Lead daily activities including arts & crafts, STEM, sports, and literacy/math support
- Plan and supervise trips, including weekly pool days
- Develop camp schedules, calendars, and structured programming
- Build strong, positive relationships with youth and families
- Support academic progress, social skills, and confidence-building
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment
- Track attendance, session notes, and program data (Salesforce)
- Assist with outreach, recruitment, and community engagement
- Coordinate workshops, guest speakers, and special activities
- Help plan meals/snacks and support daily program operations
What We’re Looking For
- 21+ with a valid driver’s license and clean record
- 4+ years of driving experience (ability to drive 7–15 passenger vans)
- Minimum 3 years experience working with youth
- Background or interest in Education, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or related fields
- Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills
- Ability to manage groups and handle behavioral situations confidently
- Comfortable planning and leading structured programming
- Passion for working with Camden youth and families
Preferred Skills
- Conversational Spanish
- Experience with Google Workspace, Canva, or social media
- Familiarity with Salesforce or willingness to learn
- Experience with program development, public speaking, or event coordination
- Understanding of trauma-informed care and youth in crisis
Requirements
- Ability to pass background check, fingerprinting, and required clearances
- Completion of staff training (mid-June)
- Ability to work full-time schedule throughout the summer
Teen Summer Program Intern (Ages 10–19)
$16–$22/hour
May – August (flexible start)
Full-Time | 40 hrs/week
Daytime, evening, and weekend shiftsAbout the Role
The Teen Summer Program Intern works with youth ages 10–19 to create dynamic, relationship-driven programming that builds leadership, independence, and real-world skills.
This is a fast-paced, hands-on role where interns take ownership of programming, lead trips and events, and serve as mentors to teens during a critical stage of development. You’ll play a key role in creating a safe, engaging, and empowering environment while helping youth navigate their summer with purpose and support.
What You’ll Do
- Plan and lead activities, trips, and overnight experiences
- Design and run evening programs, including Youth Night and workshops
- Build strong mentorship relationships with teens
- Support college & career readiness programming
- Assist with transportation, meals, and daily program logistics
- Maintain a safe, structured, and organized environment
- Track attendance, session notes, and program data (Salesforce)
- Support outreach, recruitment, and community engagement efforts
- Help manage social media and program promotion
- Coordinate supplies, schedules, and program operations
What We’re Looking For
- 21+ with a valid driver’s license and clean record
- 4+ years of driving experience (ability to drive 15-passenger vans)
- Minimum 3 years experience working with youth
- Strong leadership and relationship-building skills
- Confidence working with teens in a mentorship role
- Ability to plan and lead engaging, structured programming
- Organized, adaptable, and proactive mindset
- Passion for working with Camden youth and community
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Google Workspace, Canva, or social media
- Familiarity with Salesforce or willingness to learn
- Experience with program/event planning and execution
- Public speaking and group facilitation skills
- Understanding of trauma-informed care and youth in crisis
Requirements
- Ability to pass background check, fingerprinting, and drug screening (including THC)
- Valid driver’s license with clean MVR check
- Availability for mandatory staff training (June 15–18)
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required
