“My experience at Williamson College of the Trades has been nothing short of hard work, new experiences and stressful nights. We joke that it’s a school where ‘lazy boys become diligent men’. I’m halfway into my second semester and I can tell you full heartedly that I’m a different man then who I was in September. I’v picked up soccer, wrestling, and choir; all three of these are activities that I never did in high school. College opens you up to activities you never dreamt of doing and I really love and appreciate that. I’ve been meeting great people and making memories I’ll never forget.
I am currently looking to get my Associate’s degree in Construction Technology; Carpentry Emphasis. My Carpentry shop has been nothing but amazing with instructors that push you to become better than when you last walked into class. The class is very hands on which I love, and you’re shown how to operate the equipment for future projects such as cabinetry, drywall, mudding, siding and framing. Thanks to Williamson, I was able to land a summer internship as a technician for Banks Industrial Group, a heavy civil construction firm. I’ll be able to hone my craft for next semester when I’m a junior.
Big thanks to the wonderful staff at LUCY for everything everyone who’s helped me with on this journey! Your help is deeply appreciated! And to the Catherine Anne Page Scholarship for so much help with all my supplies, clothes and equipment, that got me through this first year with no personal expenses!”
